A Bag of Anteaters
(Slave Labor, 2005)
™ and © Slave Labor Graphics
Ian Carney and Jonathan Edwards’ slice–of–life about disaffected British youth acting like hooligans probably digs thoroughly mined ground, but at least it uses a new shovel. The Slave Labor Graphics title keeps it interesting and keeps the sympathetic main character, David, basically a good–hearted lad pulled along by his thuggish buddy Dave, who chides David as childish while conducting his own campaign of potty humor and outbursts. Dave’s abuse never shows itself to be a veneer over loyal friendship. Instead, we get two different personalities trapped together, which is why the state of things remains unchanged by the end of the story.
