Dan Dare: Marooned on Mercury

    (Titan, 2005)

Set almost fifty years in the future (1997), when the series premiered in 1950 in the pages of Eagle, Dan Dare: Pilot of the Future is a literary cousin of Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers. Dare is a squared–jawed, dashing colonel in the Interplanet Space Fleet who together with his friends and allies and his personal space ship, The Anastasia, stand ready to defend Earth from a myriad of interplanetary threats.

This slim hardback volume collects an entire story, “Marooned on Mercury,” that was originally serialized at the rate of two pages per week from June of 1952 to February of 1953. Additionally, part 3 of a four–part interview with Frank Hampson, the creator and original artist of the strip is included as well as a text piece about collecting original art by Hampson
