Samurai Cat, published by Epic Comics, features a feline hero in sixteenth-century Japan. Miawowara Tomokato is the Samurai Cat, the most feared warrior in Japan. Miawowara once served as a loyal warrior under the guidance of Nobunaga, a Japanese Lord. Together, Nobunaga and Miawowara brought peace to Japan. After Nobunaga is killed while Miawowara is on holiday visiting his family, the Samurai Cat vows revenge on the evil warlord named Fugu Otoko. Fugu is a rival Lord who wanted Nobunaga dead, and decided to do it himself.

The series is reminiscent of a “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.” It was released as a three-issue mini-series in 1991, with a script by Ralph Macchio, who went on to become a Marvel Comics editor. Frank Cirocco handled the penciling duties. The entire mini-series was based on the book “The Adventures of Samurai Cat” by Mark E. Rogers.
