Heartbreakers Meet Boilerplate
(IDW, 2005)
™ and © Idea + Design Works LLC
The Heartbreakers is a group of three female bodyguards lead by Queenie. Delta is a scientist, and one of the folks the ladies protect. All of these women were cloned from the same person, but programmed with different talents. Boilerplate is a legendary 19th Century robot, unveiled in 1893 by Professor Archibald Campion.
When the Heartbreakers find and reassemble Boilerplate, their android, Femiquin 22, instantly falls in love with him. Unfortunately, Boilerplate soon becomes the target of an attempted kidnapping by Biovac, an evil cloning company. It seems Biovac wants to dismantle the recently returned robot and exploit his valuable technology. The Heartbreakers are fascinated by Boilerplate, however, and vow to protect him. After all, in an era where clones have human rights, can androids and robots be far behind?
The art for this book was created using a technique called “paintography,” which fuses drawing, painting, and photography into a unique illustration style.
