The Hunchback of Notre Dame (Disney’s…)

This comic book adaptation came hot on the heels of other “Broadway musical” inspired animated Disney feature films such as The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and The Lion King. The hubbub at the time was if the subject matter was appropriate fare for children and the resulting film almost didn’t get its coveted “G” rating. They shouldn’t have worried, as the film is quite charming and would have benefited from a “PG.” Later on, Disney would bite the bullet and go “PG” for their animated features (Atlantis, Treasure Planet) anyway, and life still went on.
