The Official Secret Agent

The Official Secret Agent was one of a collection of “official” reprints of famous newspaper strips published by Pioneer Comics. Others in the series included The Official Modesty Blaise, The Official Rip Hunter, and The Official Prince Valiant.

Secret Agent has a history stretching over fifty years. Its star is Phil Corrigan, a G-Man known variously as Secret Agent X-9 and Secret Agent Corrigan. In his newspaper comic adventures he ranged the world taking on smugglers, Communist saboteurs, and even a machine gun-toting grandmother à la Ma Barker. In many ways, Secret Agent can be considered as a prototype for the later James Bond 007.

The newspaper strips reprinted here were created by Al Williamson and Archie Goodwin, a creative team known also for their Classic Star Wars newspaper strips.
