In the 1940s, Fiction House Books published a title named Jumbo Comics. That series contained eight-page backup stories about a would-be girl pilot named Ginger Maguire, also known as Sky Gal.

In 1993, AC Comics brought the misadventures of Sky Gal back to comic fans. This series contained one new story per issue along with four reprinted stories by the quintessential Sky Gal artist, Matt Baker. Baker drew the madcap adventures of the red-headed girl with a less-developed brain than body. For the era, Sky Gal was quite a risqué character, with many panels flaunting her apparent lack of underwear. Humorous and sexy, she was a perfect example of what became known as “good girl art.”
