Dr. Blink: Superhero Shrink
(Dork Storm, 2004-2007)
™ and © Dork Storm
Dr. Blink, head–shrinker to the super–hero set, first appeared in a short back–up story in issue #25 of John Kovalic's RPG spoof series Dork Tower. Subsequent appearances in Dork Tower issues #26-30 and Dr. Blink Issue #0 preceded the full-color launch of Dr. Blink: Superhero Shrink written by Kovalic and illustrated by Christopher Jones (Justice League Adventures).
This title expands the coterie of dysfunctional heroes doing time on the analyst’s couch and introduces readers to Dr. Blink’s rebellious teenage daughter Emma. Mining well–tread super–hero narratives for source material and exploitable clichés, Kovalic spoofs super–heroes and pop psychology in equal parts. He mixes the two together and asks what would happen if heroes sought psychotherapy for their outsized emotional distress like people in real world do with for their rather more mundane issues.
