Tomb of Darkness
(Marvel, 1974-1976)
™ and ©1975 Marvel Entertainment Group
Originally entitled Beware, this title was one of the stock of Marvel horror/science-fiction comics of the early seventies. It reprinted classic stories of the genre including early features from Tales of Suspense and Tales to Astonish. Along with the requisite monsters and supernatural thrillers, encounters with aliens ranked high on the list of storylines. One favorite was a story called, “We Can’t All be Human,” where aliens had taken on the forms of nice, soft-spoken humans in order do their mischief. They succeeded in fooling everyone except a young philosophy major “whose training had taught him not to trust appearances.” (And all his friends had said that his degree wasn’t good for anything!)
