Tread

™ and © 2004 Greg Vondruska

Vondruska has been quietly self-publishing this anthology on a periodic basis for the past few years; mostly as a solo act but occasionally allowing a guest stint from a few fellow creators. His stories are basically nothing more than ones he wants to tell, eschewing adherence to any kind of theme: a risky move for an already risky venture.

Not that his art is all that impressive to begin with; it has a grungy, roughened look that has all the classic signs of talent waiting to bloom — just not yet. Vondruska as a writer, though, is more mature, and Tread, despite its smaller and cheaply printed self-published format, is a comic book worth having a look at, whenever an issue comes out.
