Delicate Creatures’s story is told in prose, complemented by gorgeous illustrations by Michael Zulli and Steve Firchow. Written by J. Michael Straczynski of Babylon 5 fame, Delicate Creatures is a fairy tale for adults, similar to the work of Neil Gaiman. The book has a seemingly innocuous opening, introducing the colorful fairies that reside inside of a castle, oblivious to the place’s human inhabitants. But the story then takes a darker route as real-life horrors descend on a fantasy world.
