The work by the four illustrators from the Artxilla collective presented in this sketchbook reflect the aesthetic influence of video games, anime and hip hop on young comics artists today. Sanford Greene, Keron Grant, LeSean Thomas, and Ed McGuiness all seem to have absorbed those influences in different yet similar ways. The steady, irregular juxtaposition of their work in this book generates visual heat. Hyper-muscularity and winsome facial expressions figure prominently, as does racial, species and human/mechanoid diversity. Tasty Treats is more than the traditional sketchbook in that all the pieces are finished and colored. The content is overwhelmingly based on figure representation.
