The Voyeur
(Aircel, 1991)
™ and © Aircel, a division of Fantagraphics Books, Inc.
This is an anthology horror title hosted by an intrusive character with binoculars that calls himself The Voyeur. Claiming to be the source of that uneasy feeling that one perceives when being watched, he is privy to the hopes and desires of all mankind. With this kind of inside information he seems predestined to narrate the stories and make pithy observations about the characters á la Cain and Abel of House of Mystery and House of Secrets. These are a similar type of story as in those classic titles, differing by the addition of nudity and more adult situations. It is not a difference that improves the genre. Rather the titillation is more of a crutch to help support stories that are somewhat predictable.
