In 1920, psychologist Amadeus Arkham returned to the home that had haunted him as a child. It was the house in which his father died and in which his mother had gone mad. The Arkham family home had walls that whispered the darkest secrets, and gave refuge to the most horrible of nightmares.

This house of pain, Arkham decided, would be converted into a house of healing…the Arkham Asylum.

Years later, the Arkham Asylum had gained black fame as home to the criminally insane. It holds the most dangerous of villains: Two-Face, Doctor Destiny, Killer Croc, and of course, The Joker. In an orgy of blood and madness, the lunatics take over the asylum, holding innocents hostage.

…And no one gets out until Batman comes in to join the party.
