On one side of this flip–book, readers have previews of numerous comics. The cover feature is Mike S. Miller’s “The Imaginaries,” a delightful spin on comic book limbo. On the opposite side, we have the first installment of the serialized crime drama Deal with the Devil by Mike S. Miller.
Who at Comic Book Digest is so enamored of the works of Mike S. Miller? Editor in Chief Mike S. Miller. If Miller is self-indulgent, who can fault him? DC Sampler never included stories from Kitchen Sink. If anything, Miller is to be applauded for the inclusion of previews from Image’s Savage Dragon to Dreamwave’s Transformers to Howard Shum’s Gun Fu. Most intriguing? Point Pleasant from Ape Entertainment. There are a variety of articles, including an interview with Eric Larsen and a history of Image. These articles are generally unremarkable; they’re OK, but not why one would pick up Comic Book Digest. It’s the previews. For less than $2, you get a big, thick smorgasbord that can help your buying habits. It’s a bargain.
