Boogeyman (Sergio Aragonés’…)

    (Dark Horse, 1998-1999)
™ and ©1998 Sergio Aragonés

This four-issue series is loosely based around the theme of “the Boogeyman” in all his incarnations. As writer Mark Evanier points out, the Boogeyman is a universal myth of childhood, but nobody seems to agree on his exact appearance:

“They never quite describe him/so what happens in your Head—Is that you form a picture/of the things you truly dread—Imagination sets to work/and what it tends to do—Is to create the boogeyman/who’s scariest to you.”

This may be a big monster in your closet, a bum on the street, or the new person replacing you at work.

Evanier and cartoonist Sergio Aragonés explore various types of Boogeymen in this series, taking on occasionally pointed themes with their characteristic zany humor.
