Sledge Hammer

Tough-talking cops waving around big guns were standard television fare, long before Clint Eastwood gave us the definitive version with Dirty Harry.

With the “serious” cop movies being this far over-the-top, it’s ironic that anyone could spoof them by going even further. But that’s exactly what Sledge Hammer does. The lead character of this television cop comedy is a badly dressed, rather thick cop with an impossibly large gun making up for his lack of intellect. Marvel successfully adapts the broad style of this comedy in this two-issue series, written by Jim Salicrup.
