Sonic Disruptors
(DC, 1987-1988)
™ and ©1987 DC Comics, Inc.
The U.S. had been taken over by a military coup. For years, the military had sat by while gays, communists, and other minorities achieved prominence in the national agenda. Then came the final straw: a female president. The military could stand no more and decided it was time to act.
Today, armed militia patrol the streets and more and more citizens are counted among the “vanished.” The only remaining thorn in the government’s side is the Sonic Disruptors, a group of disc jockeys and revolutionaries who broadcast from an orbital space station. Led by Myron Speece, a.k.a. Sheik Rattle Enroll, they beam banned music and revolutionary politics to the world below. What’s more, the government can’t shoot them down as the ship also carries tons of nuclear waste.
Sonic Disruptors was originally scheduled as a 12-issue maxi-series, but was cancelled due to low sales.
