Veteran comics and TV writer Marv Wolfman brings us this new series, which along with Breakdown, Infantry, and Blade of Kumori introduces the “Aftermath” universe from Devil’s Due Publishing. The story opens with a group of five super–powered individuals on the run from a squad of high–tech soldiers. We then jump back in time a whole month, when these same people, seemingly ordinary college students, are “randomly” assigned together on a semester–long research program. After the university refuses to test their promising work on nanotechnology, their natural reaction is to head to the local pub. Many beers and some time later, they wake up hooked to the research equipment in their lab; all of them, that is, except for the one glued to the ceiling in a chrysalis. Stefano Caselli and Sunder Raj provide the solid (if not spectacular) artistry.
