Ghost in the Shell 2: Man-Machine Interface
(Dark Horse, 2003, 2005, 2010, 2017)
™ and ©2003 Masamune Shirow
Masumune Shirow’s highly stylized sci-fi manga is given color treatment, a rarity in Japanese comics. While the first Ghost in the Shell series was a mammoth success in both Japan and America, many critics and fans complained that it was difficult to follow. This sequel isn’t even a continuation of the original storyline; instead, Man-Machine Interface is set four years and five months after its female protagonist Motoko Kusanagi has split from Section 9 of the Public Security Bureau. Shirow’s futuristic designs recall the 1982 film Blade Runner.
