In a collection of short tales that reveal windows into the former lives of three of the Coven team members, the book is presented in black and white pencils by artist Ian Churchill before inks were applied to the original artwork. A look at the origins of Scratch, Phenomena and Fantom, the comic is a one-shot that adds to the general history of the team’s short-lived adventures in this fantasy title from Rob Leifield’s equally short-lived Awesome Comics. Written by the usually excellent Jeph Loeb (Batman: The Long Halloween; Superman) this title seems to be more of an experiment in creator-owned pastures than a heartfelt endeavor.
