Ice Haven

“It’s not as cold here as it sounds.” That is how its residents refer to the town of Ice Haven. It could also be described as a town filled with many different characters all united by one thing: longing. Whether it is respect as a writer, companionship from a long-distance boyfriend, or love from a step-sister, all the residents want something but never quite get it. A missing child touches each of these characters lives, changing some, and leaving others the same.

Daniel Clowes’ (Ghost World, Art School Confidential) gives us a “comic-strip novel.” Each of the characters gets their story told in the form of a comic strip, each with an individual coloring and lettering style.
