The Moon-Spinners (Walt Disney’s…)
(Gold Key, 1964)
™ and ©1964 Walt Disney Productions
Actress Hayley Mills signed up to do six pictures for Walt Disney in the early 1960s. Initially, as she was quite young, she performed in lightweight comedy and slice of life films such as Pollyanna and The Parent Trap. As she began to mature, however, she wanted more challenging roles, and for her fifth picture she got it. The Moon-Spinners is a sophisticated action-adventure yarn than can easily match up with what the other studios were issuing at that time (1964). It is also similar to what Alfred Hitchcock was directing at the time and highly suspenseful in an exciting adventure with jewel thieves and mistaken identities on the island of Crete. This comic book adaptation follows similar form.
