Time Twisters

Wedged in between Judge Dredd, Psi-Judge Anderson, or any of the other serials that ran through Britain’s 2000 A.D., readers often found a short, ironic science-fiction story. These usually ran under the header “Tharg’s Time Twisters” or “Tharg’s Future Shocks” in honor of Tharg the Mighty, the fictional alien master of 2000 A.D. magazine.

Often these Time Twisters were a way for Fleetway to break in new writers and artists. This is not to say that they were a mediocre lot—indeed, many were written by Alan Moore (Watchmen) and drawn by such notables as Garry Leach, Alan Davis, and Dave Gibbons. Page for page, these stories were often the best thing about 2000 A.D. Begun in 1986, this series collects and colorizes the best of 2000 A.D.’s Time Twister stories, letting new readers experience their strange charm for themselves.
