In this Elseworlds tale set in 1863, Lieutenant-Colonel Bruce Wayne of the 13th Massachusetts Cavalry is sent by president Lincoln to Nevada to recover millions in gold and silver that were destined for the war effort but have mysteriously vanished. Along the way he meets and gets help from Bill Hickok, Sam Clemens and an Indian named Red Bird.

Elliot S. Maggin crafts an interesting old west twist on Batman, helped by co-plotter and penciller Alan Weiss and inker Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez.
