Crush

Reminiscent of the film Brazil, Crush creator Burpo presents a dystopic world that’s been sanitized for your protection. Crush involves an eclectic cast of characters, each plagued by their own demons. Diane and Benjamin, a married intellectual couple, are planning Benjamin’s suicide. Neil’s belief in the mystical “choir” helps him get through day after miserable day. Jellybean, the bombshell on roller skates, understands just enough to know she’s unhappy. Meanwhile, Chuckie spends his IQ points on junk food and the blonde, homogeneous group of women known as “Barbies” control the vote. And all each of them wants is a moment of happiness.

Strange and disjointed, Crush depicts a future where no one would want to live.
