JLA: Seven Caskets

    (DC, 2000)
™ and ©2000 DC Comics

To defeat the monster, first you must become it.

That is the lesson the JLA must come to terms with in this fully painted one-shot by horror comics master, Dan Brereton. Brereton, best known for his work on the Nocturnals and Giantkiller brings his stylized artwork to this tale of powerfully evil forces even the JLA may be helpless against. As seven primordial kings attempt to regain control of the Earth, the Justice League of America has to decide if they should accept a dark gift that could allow them victory, yet potentially cost them their very humanity. Meanwhile, JLA member and king of Atlantis, Aquaman, may know more about the ancient evil creatures they’re fight than he is revealing, causing desertion in the JLA’s mighty ranks. Could this shadowy menace be the end of the world’s most powerful super-heroes?
