The Legend of Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman is one of those characters which seem like it had potential, but somehow is plagued by low sales. Such was not always the case, however, as Wonder Woman was one of the few characters from DC’s Golden Age to survive the post-war shakeout and continue without interruption into the present day.

This four-issue series (which fills the time between the cancellation of Wonder Woman (1st Series) and Wonder Woman (2nd Series), is an attempt to hark back to her glory years in the 1940s. It pits the woman with the magic lasso against Atomia, a forgotten villainess from a sub-atomic universe, who has returned to capture earth people as slaves. With stylized art by Trina Robbins and co-writing by Kurt Busiek (later of Marvels fame), The Legend of Wonder Woman is a loving tribute to one of comics’ great heroines.
