Ultimate Tales Flip Magazine

™ and © 2005 Marvel Characters, Inc.

In the year 2000, Marvel Comics began publishing their Ultimate imprint comics which relaunched some of their most prominent characters, re-imagined for a new audience. These titles were not intended to replace the ongoing classic series as the unfortunate Heroes Reborn experiment had done in the mid-1990s. Spider-Man, whose intricate continuity had been tangled by the Clone Saga, was a prime candidate for a new generation of comic fans to discover minus all that complicated backstory. Fan-favorite writer Brian Michael Bendis took Peter Parker back to high school and expanded Spider-Man’s origin, taking a full six issues to finish. Some changes were made, such as the spider bite occurring at Norman Osborn’s research facility and more significantly, the introduction of Mary Jane Watson as a love interest from the start.

This title reprints the first two issues of The Ultimate Spider-Man in a flipbook format.
