According to creator/writer Bill Willingham (Elementals), Pantheon is the “last word on the whole super-hero genre.” This twelve-issue limited series posses the question: “Who would the super-heroes fight if all the supervillains had been defeated and captured?” The answer: each other! Without the bad guys to beat up on, the world’s super-heroes come to blows when one faction—led by Daedalus—feels that the best way to change the world is to rule it and another faction—the Freedom Machine—feels that humanity should be left to find its own way. With its tweaking of the super-hero conceits, Pantheon is sort of Kingdom Come-meets-Squadron Supreme in beautiful black-and-white. Willingham has pulled out all the stops on this one, and artist Mike Leeke (The H.A.R.D. Corps) ably assists him in his efforts.
