The world of “indie” comics just got bigger with the introduction of Relentless Comics’ Nicki Shadow. But unlike most of its brethren, this title sports a 14-page color book with zero ads and tons of action. While the art is far from stellar and the story leaves much to be desired, the book itself is representative of the independent spirit that sets the comic book industry apart from the rest.

The year is 2061 and the world has deteriorated to a Blade Runner-type state. A sprawling mass of city is the center where millions of individuals struggle for sheer survival. Corporate overlords and techno-street gangs rule where law and order have become a thing of the past. Enter Nicki Shadow. A “hardwired” assassin who runs with a group of techno-anarchists called the Mechanix, the young antihero uses his God-given talents to survive as best he can in a world gone crazy.

Thriving off of blood, violence and fast paced action, the title leaves little time for exposition, trading it in for highflying thrills.
