The Doomsday Squad

High above the Earth, Captain Boyd Ellis commanded a space mission that was meant to last seven days. Aboard were radiation expert Jill Malden and Japanese physicist Ikei Yashida. Boyd had fallen in love with Jill, and when they returned to Earth, they intended to marry.

Alas, this was never to happen. While the crew was in Earth orbit, a dictator below touched off a nuclear war. Every major city was obliterated by warheads, and the resulting radiation covered the globe, save for a small area around Greenland. It was there that the crew decided to attempt a landing. When they touched down, it was upon a world gone dead.

The Doomsday Squad originally ran under the title Doomsday + 1 at Charlton Comics. This revival features art by John Byrne and backup stories including Jan Strnad’s Dalgoda and Stan Sakai’s Usagi Yojimbo.
