Elfquest: Kings of the Broken Wheel

The elves’ story began with an accident. The High Ones had been traveling through time from the medieval age and had missed their mark, ending up in an age where men were still basically savages. Instead of being welcomed with open arms, the High Ones found themselves subject to brutal attack by the humans. Disoriented, the High Ones fled their palace and sought refuge in this new world. They and their children eventually became the ancestors of the Cutter and the rest of the Elfquest elves.

Then Rayek, one of Cutter’s kinsmen took it into his head to play god. He kidnapped Cutter’s family and invaded the palace of the High Ones. Rayek was determined to travel back to the point of the original accident and “correct” it. He sought power, but it’s doubtful that he understood the full implications of correcting a mistake that gave birth to his entire species. The elves’ history was a broken wheel in time—and by repairing it, Rayek could destroy them all!
