The Unexpurgated Tale of Lordie Jones

This comic has a real nice feel to it, by which I mean the texture of the book before you even open the cover. Inside, some smooth, sepia art with cross-hatching that doesn’t hurt to look at retells “an obscure Caribbean folktale” about a boy who tries to cheat the Tooth Fairy and gets a pig growing in his fanny for his efforts. This is a fun little tale, and save for the swearing and terrifying Tooth Fairy, could be a long-lost Roald Dahl tale. Artist Marc Ngui might want to consider redrawing a few pages and passing this one around the children’s market in a clean version, but he doesn’t need to do anything to improve the version we see here.
