You’d have thought Barry Blair’s semi-controversial Elflord books were the most popular items to come out of Night Wynd Enterprises, but you’d be wrong, apparently. Blair’s long-time (and extremely convoluted) Dragonfire series is evidently so popular, fans who missed the first printings of the original issues (and can’t find their way to the bargain bins in the back of their local comics shop) are clamoring for reprints of those hard-to-find editions. Thus we have Dragonfire: The Early Years, which, just as the title promises, reprints the first Dragonfire tales. And it does so with such low production values, it’s nearly impossible to make out the darkened artwork of Dale Keown, which was actually the series’ saving grace.
