The Last Planet

This 1993 one-shot has it all: slacker Centaur teenagers, mutant gladiator women with fish heads, and a well-armed gunman with less smarts than a bowl of tapioca. What is it? The Last Planet: a bizarre, funny series by Brits Simon Davies and David Pugh.

These stories originally appeared in the British mag Mindbenders as a series of five-page science-fiction shorts. This title strings them together, although the sum total doesn’t make any more sense than the individual parts. If you can avoid getting hung up on trying to make sense of the plot, however, you’ll have a great time following the antics of Brill the fish-headed babe and her motley crew. After all, where else can you find characters fighting with “transtemporal contradisruptives:” devices which go back in time to find the daddy of your foe, then sterilize him before he’s had a chance to ask the future mom out for dinner.
