Spider-Man: Get Kraven

    (Marvel, 2002-2003)
™ and ©2002 Marvel Characters, Inc.

Written by former Howard Stern Show writer Ron Zimmerman, Get Kraven (the title’s a nod to the classic Michael Caine crime film “Get Carter”) is the story of a former super-villain’s search for love, fame and riches on the back lots of Hollywood’s movie studios. Standing in Kraven’s way is a delusional uncle who thinks he is actually Kraven’s father (the original Kraven the Hunter), an insane Hollywood producer, drugged-out prima donna actresses and even Namor, the Sub-mariner! Filled with references to countless movies and insipid name-dropping, the book seems to be more about Zimmerman’s own struggles to become a Hollywood player than a fictional account of a villain attempting to go straight. There is more than a passing resemblance to the Robert Altman directed film “The Player.”
