This story retells the early years of the Avengers bringing a modern flair to a story originally told 40 years ago. Fans of the team will enjoy seeing their old favorites (Iron Man, Thor and Captain America) back during a time that seemed a lot more innocent, especially after the carnage-filled end the teams suffered in Avengers Disassembled.

The artwork and writing flow smoothly and the characterizations appear right on track. From Captain America refusing to leave until he has read every name on the Viet Nam Memorial to Iron Man's constant board room arguements with the government as he tried to secure the team's security clearance, we get to see a lot of the behind-the-scenes events that helped shape the Avengers.

This is the perfect series for people who want to get to know the Avengers without having to purchase the 400+ issues of the original series.
