Witch (Eternity)
(Eternity, 1989)
™ and ©1989 Marv Wolfman and Ernie Colon
Eternity Comics introduced Witch, created by Marv Wolfman and Ernie Colon, in January of 1989. It had previously appeared in the obscure magazine Psycho, a competitor to Creepy (magazine) and Vampirella (magazine). This title chronicles the adventures of the Love Witch, a character who, ironically, everyone loves to hate. Like the famed Sirens from Homer’s “Odyssey,” the Love Witch can mesmerize men and then lead them to their demise. She is aided in this evil task by a gigantic flying dragon who heeds the Love Witch’s every command. She loves no one and must constantly watch her back because more than a few men have threatened revenge. She also has amassed quite a list of powerful enemies including Morpheus, the Lord of the Dream Realm (no relation to DC Comics’ Sandman.)
Witch is a black and white series and featured color covers illustrated by Jim Balent (Catwoman).
