One of the most interesting aspects of Japanese manga is doujinshi, underground comics that often portray popular characters in irreverent or X-rated situations. Even something as innocuous as Sailor Moon is given a pornographic twist. Instead of suing these amateur creators for copyright infringement, manga companies often use them as training ground for budding artists. But the life of a doujinshi has little financial stability. In Comic Party, the everyday existence of a doujinshi artist is detailed in the life of Kazuki Sendo, a would-be manga creator who becomes enveloped by his doujinshi dreams.
