This may be a black-and-white comic, but look closely—it’s not like its low-quality, low-brow brethern. Erik Larsen and Chris Eliopoulos finally found a time in their busy schedules where they could lock themselves up for twenty-four hours and produce a comic,pleasing both cerebrally and visually.

Guy Talk: Earl and Buddy sit down and have a brother-to-brother talk about life, girls, and marriage, all pointedly highlighted by the daring bank robbery across the street. Herculian and Punchin’ Judy don’t get much dialog in this tale, but the two tales interweave perfectly.

The Present: It’s not easy being a geek, especially when no one comes to your birthday party. But when Duncan receives a very special crayon, the universe as we know it will never be the same.
