Spooky Spooktown
(Harvey, 1961-1976)
™ and ©1976 Harvey Cartoons
Like many of Casper’s friends, Spooky proved popular enough to gain his own title. Sporting a mobster-like accent and a “doiby” hat, Spooky spends much of his time protecting his reputation as a “tuff little ghost.” Part of his rep is the skill and power of his scaring ability, and Spooky prides himself on being able to out-Boo pretty much any other ghost around.
But the truth is that his tough demeanor is pretty much an act, as Spooky often goes to great effort to help those in need. Of course, all the time he’s out doing good deeds, he’s fussing and complaining about it. And though his patented Boo comes in handy when defeating the bad guys, Spooky also puts a lot of energy into not scaring. Why would a self-styled tough guy try not to be tough? Well, mostly to impress his best girlfriend, a sweet ghost called “Poil.”
