The Tick & Arthur

The cult hero of independent comics and animated television spins off into a new title, but it’s still the same old super-hero buffoonery the big blue guy made famous in the 1990s. The series focuses on the goofy-looking, invulnerable, and completely thickheaded hero known as The Tick, and his sidekick Arthur, who is considerably punier, somewhat brighter, and yet totally lacking in both super-powers and courage. Together the pair blunders across The City through adventures involving Ninja assassins, the mysterious “Thorn of Oblivion,” a psychotic known as Barry, and other inanities.

There’s not much that’s serious going on here, as the heroes are generally oblivious to the potential gravity of each situation, but there’s plenty of humor. Count on the Tick to emerge from all battles victorious, even if neither he nor Arthur is quite certain about how they managed it. Created by Ben Edlund, his concept is written and drawn by Sean Wang.
