Drawing on the success of the earlier “Calling All Girls” and Calling All Kids, the publishers of Parents’ Magazine launched this, the logical conclusion to the series in 1946.

Each giant-sized issue brought numerous stories, including the comical exploits of Hector, sports comics featuring Streaky Smith, and the super-smart adventures of “Big Brain Billy.” In an unusual move for a comics magazine, it also included numerous multi-page text stories. Wrapping things up, a “Coach’s Corner,” written by sports legends such as Joe DiMaggio gave kids tips for improving their playing abilities.

After seventeen issues under the Calling All Boys name, the title became known as Tex Granger, after the title’s popular Western feature.
