The Man Called A-X (DC)

    (DC, 1997-1998)
™ and ©1997 Marv Wolfman and Shawn McManus

After an unexpected time in comics limbo due to the dissolution of Malibu’s creator-owned imprint (Bravura) and ultimately, the entire Malibu line, The Man Called A-X returns to the comic stands—this time from DC Comics. A-X (pronounced “Ax” by writer Marv Wolfman, and “A-Ten” by artist Shawn McManus) continues his search for his identity.

During Desert Storm, A-X was forcibly recruited, along with many other soldiers, for the Millennia Project by crime czar Garrison Gage. Gage was a member of the criminal organization controlling Bedlam City and was attempting to create an army of programmable assassins for an even larger criminal alliance, the Cadre. A-X overcame his programming and dealt a severe blow to the Cadre’s secret plan. Now, with the aid of another Desert Storm veteran, Liz Watkins, A-X disrupts Bedlam City’s corrupt routine while searching for clues to his past.
