Stumbo Tinytown
(Harvey, 1963-1966)
™ and © Harvey Comic Publications
The loveable if slightly dimwitted giant Stumbo Tinytown was a bit-player in Harvey Comics’ kiddie-friendly lineup in the mid-60s. Stumbo starred in his own appropriately giant-sized (80-page) comic along with his supporting cast Officer O’floodle, the Mayor and Rich Sister Gertie. That little devil Hot Stuff also turned up to fill some space with single-page gag strips. The humor in Stumbo generally revolved around the trials and tribulations of being 60 feet tall and none too agile in a medieval kingdom of normal-sized, if irritable, folks. Illustrated in the fun Harvey style, Stumbo was probably the choice of the younger set if the newsstand was sold out of Richie Rich, L’il Dot or Casper the Friendly Ghost.
