Xena

Though best known for publishing vampire stories for mature readers like Vamperotica, Brainstorm Comics’ title Xena bears more of a resemblance to Judge Dredd. Xena, unrelated to the television series and subsequent comic book of the same name, follows the life of a super-powered agent of the National Endowment Bureau in the year 2025. Genetically engineered from birth to have all ten of the known superhuman endowments, Xena is the only costumed crimefighter powerful enough to stop other “endowed” beings should they pursue a life of crime themselves. Emotionlessly acting as judge, jury, and executioner, Xena’s quest for justice eventually finds herself the target of her super-powered peers who now view her as a threat to their community. Though seemingly unbeatable could Xena’s blind pursuit to “punish the guilty” be her greatest weakness? And who is directing and sanctioning the elimination of the other rogue superhumans and why? Could Xena eventually become a target herself?
