Zit

Zit is an eloquent retort for anyone who thinks that British humor is all highbrow and stuffiness. Like The Viz, that infamous—and hugely popular—comic magazine, Zit delights in shocking readers and wallowing in what may politely be termed bathroom humor. Still, Zit comes across as more of a relative to undergrounds like The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers or Zap Comix than to the squiggles on the bathroom wall. Although there’s plenty of low humor here, Zit can also be delightfully subversive: parodying pop icons as henpecked cowards (“Paul ’n’ Linda”) or making fun of both youth culture and organized religion at once (“Reverend Rush: The Original Rave Vicar”).
