Cataloging this nineteen-issue reprint title from DC—which began with #4 and ended with #22—was a tough task for the ComicBase indexers because issues 7-13 are dual-numbered. While they are issues of DC 100 Page Super Spectacular, they are also Superman (1st Series) #245, Adventure Comics #416, Batman #238, Our Army at War #242, Flash (1st Series) #214, Superboy (1st Series) #185, and Superman (1st Series) #252.

Still, in spite of the confusion, this series was jam-packed with classic Golden Age and Silver Age material like the first meeting of the Justice League and the Justice Society; the origin of Two-Face; and early appearances of the Spectre, Kid Eternity, Johnny Quick, Hawkman, Starman, and the Sandman. Just the covers of these comics—primarily by Neal Adams and Nick Cardy—make them worth owning …especially Adams’ “World’s Greatest Super-Heroes” (#6) and “World’s Greatest Flying Heroes” (#13) gems!
