Men in Action (1st Series)

Series continued in Battle Brady #10

Like many other Atlas (Marvel) comics of its time, Men in Action told exciting stories of combat set during the Korean War. At the same time, there’s something distinctly unappealing about these rough, brutal tales. Although told from the American side, both sides were shown caught up in the bloodlust of combat. There was a tone of “anything goes” about these stories, and both restraint and true heroism seemed equally hard to find.

Artists such as Joe Maneely contributed to this feel with his grimacing dogfaces and Mongoloid depictions of the Communist enemies.

With issue #10, this series was retitled Battle Brady.
